In order to take full advantage of a digital twin, you must be able receive information from multiple sources from operations and maintenance, like data from IoT sensors and historians, in the real system to constantly parallel the system’s state.

This is then displayed in context with engineering or reality models to provide a true picture of performance and behavior in an open and connected environment.
